Yes, this is the first installment of the Craik Website Trivia Contest.

 

How does it work? Very Simple!

 

Here at the Craik website’s "secret underground think tank" we have researched 10 trivia questions. Some are from our rich and storied history and some are from our not-so-distant past. Read them over, do your research, call a friend, answer carefully, double check your answers and then email them to our webmaster. It’s just that easy!

 

Now what’s in it for you? Well if you are the first person to answer all 10 questions correctly, not only will you have bragging rights as a Craik trivia contest winner but you will also receive one of our Craik commemorative license plates. Pretty easy!!

  • Craik had the distinction of being the first Saskatchewan town with one of these. What was it? (Hint:1919)

  • This former Craikite graduated from Craik High School in 1979 and went on to play hockey in the NHL. Who is he?

  • The Craik Golf course has recently undergone a significant re-development. But “WHO” sold land to the Craik Golf Club for the previous course location?

  • What year was Craik incorporated as a village?

  • At one time Craik had “2” Hotels. Name them?

      European Hotel and Waldorf Hotel

  • Name “3” former Craik Mayors. (“Not” including our current Mayor Rod Haugerud)

      Brake Howarth, Bill McGinnis and Ernie Dixon (among others)

  • He was born on the family farm near Craik in 1911 and came to be a prominent figure in Saskatchewan Agriculture. He served as chairman of the District 15 Agricultural Board and on the Royal Commission on Rural Development in the late 1940s. In 1954 and 1955 he was elected as president of the Agricultural Societies Association of Saskatchewan. In the 1970s he became a spokesperson for the Palliser Wheat Growers Association and was elected president of the Wheat Growers in 1975 and 1976. In 1968 he was part of the Wilson curling rink from Saskatoon that won the Seagram Stone, the national seniors championship, with an unprecedented ten straight wins. He was inducted into the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame in 1989. He passed away on February 25, 2002. “WHO” is this notable Craikite?
