   R.M. of Craik No. 222

Welcome to the website for the Rural Municipality of Craik No. 222!

Here you will find resources and information on bylaws, council members, economic development, public works, and general news for the RM.

 About Us

The Rural Municipality (RM) of Craik (No.222) is located in South Central Saskatchewan in the heart of Agriculture country. The RM is situated between three major cities of Saskatchewan, Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw, making it an excellent location for industry and residence. There are two communities within the boundaries of the RM, Craik and Aylesbury, and as well, about 300 rural residents who make their homes in the Craik RM. Highway 11 or "Louis Riel Trail" runs through the RM allowing easy and safe access to the north and south. In between there are many miles of grid road maintained by the RM and kept in excellent condition year round.

In conjunction with the Town of Craik, the RM and the entire community have become involved  in the areas of  environment and Sustainability. This commitment to being "ecologically friendly" led the the building of the

"Craik Eco-Centre," a marvel in the area of conservation and sustainability. As interest grew from inside and outside the community, other project have begun. An "Eco-Village has risen  from bald prairie with resident coming from around the country to live and raise their families in an ecological friendly lifestyle. A Flax house is selling all product related to  flax straw and seed and promoting it's many health benefits. A tree farm  just east of Craik is studying the possibilities in using our land to grow trees for wood, pulp and paper products. And, there are even more idea and projects getting off the ground or in the planning stages that are sure to keep the momentum moving forward.

For more information on this please see the CSLP (Craik Sustainable Living Project) website.

 Economic Development

Agriculture, as it is throughout Saskatchewan,  is the primary industry in the Craik RM. Grain Company, Viterra, serves this industry directly with an outlet situated in the town of Craik. There are many other service related businesses in the community offering agriculture based goods like fuel, parts and service to area grain producers. Highway 11 provides an excellent means of transporting grains and oilseeds to markets both nearby and across the province. There is a strong push from area grain producers and residents to have the rail line re-opened from Craik south to Regina. There is no doubt that this will allow for easier movement of goods and also provide another avenue for farmers to move their products to market.

The RM council is very progressive and proactive in exploring all options for economical development within the RM and the town of Craik. This has lead to a joint venture with the town of Craik which will see "Titan Clean Energy Projects Corporation" bringing a new ecologically friendly business to Craik. Titan is a new company that is involved in the areas of producing fuel and Energy from agriculture and forestry by-products and waste. They are expected to start building in the spring of 2009. If you're looking for an excellent location to expand your business or to start a new business enterprise or service, the RM and it's council are ready and eager to help make your idea a reality.

 Public Works

The public works team is committed to a high level of service for the entire RM of Craik. RM foreman Gary Murray has many years of experience on the job and oversees two hardworking assistants, Doug Judd and Kevin Binder. Some of their many duties include:
